🍺 Tankard of Truthful Tongues
Wondrous Item (Uncommon) • No Attunement • Urban / Social
The Tankard of Truthful Tongues gleams brighter than any lantern in the tavern. Its pewter surface bears a pair of crossed quills, and rumor has it the engravings tremble whenever someone prepares to speak a lie. Once per dawn, raising this tankard in a toast sends a ripple of silver honesty through the room — turning drinks into confessions and banter into courtroom testimony.
✨ Magic Effect
When you raise a toast (bonus action), creatures that hear you must make a DC 13 Charisma save or become unable to knowingly lie for 1 minute.
They may deflect, remain silent, or speak in half-truths — but falsehoods refuse to leave their lips.
A creature that succeeds on the save is immune to the effect for 24 hours.
The tankard can be used once per dawn.
🍺 Hooks & Usage Ideas

-
The Tankard Thief: Someone steals it believing it reveals true names. They’re very wrong — and very desperate.
🍺 DM Notes
Use this item to push stalled roleplay scenes forward without railroading players. Truth can be a blade as sharp as any sword. Adjust the save DC based on noise level, tension, or magical interference within the space. Foreshadow the tankard with tavern gossip:
“Careful what you confess ’round that pewter cup…”
